Some say the world will end with fire.

Others say with ice.

From what I've tasted of desire

I hold with those that favor fire.

But if I had to perish twice,

I think I know enough of hate,

To say that for destruction ice,

Is also great and would suffice.

'TWAS A WINDY MISERABLE DAY

The wind started blowing today before 9:00 a.m. As the day went on the wind blew harder and harder. By mid-afternoon there was a lot of damage in the valley. The McDonalds sign blew down mashing three cars and injuring a child laying in the backseat of one of them. Houses all over the valley have had roof damage from shingles blowing off the house. We have our very first environmental damage to our house or place of abode that we have ever had (in 40+ years). Right now it is hard to tell how bad it is but I have picked up two shingles that have blown off and there are several others sticking in the air. If the wind continues to blow this hard they will be on the ground soon too.

I can repair around three or four shingles but if it gets worse than that then we are looking at having to remove and replace them---glad we have insurance---hope we never have to use it. Right now I think I can fix the damage and re-seal the bottom line of shingles so this doesn't happen again. I don't dare get on the roof with the wind we have or I would have re-sealed the shingles before we lost any. The winds are steady at 40 with gusts to nearly 70 mph. I had trouble walking in a parking lot and I wasn't about to try walking on a roof in that.

Time will tell how much more damage we incur---hopefully we are finished losing shingles and it will be an easy repair---HOPEFULLY!!!

Our last windstorm pulled shingles AND siding off our house. We fixed the shingles, have to buy some new siding pieces. :(

Just got the results from a weather station on Signal Peak (near us) and teh winds have been sustained at 40 mph for over three hours with gusts to 78 mph...I am way lucky. You ought to see some of the other houses in the valley.
