T'day I had the privilege of teaching a drug class to a bunch (120) of firefighters. In addition to the course I was responsible for teaching zero tolerance for both drugs and alcohol. Every time I do one of those classes I wonder if anyone really understood anything I said except that we have zero tolerance. I know they understand that - they have seen removals from both the fire line and the service for both of the above.
I always wonder why I get selected to teach these crappy courses---but then I think it boils down to the fact that I will when others won't.
Some say the world will end with fire.
Others say with ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those that favor fire.
But if I had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate,
To say that for destruction ice,
Is also great and would suffice.
