Some say the world will end with fire.

Others say with ice.

From what I've tasted of desire

I hold with those that favor fire.

But if I had to perish twice,

I think I know enough of hate,

To say that for destruction ice,

Is also great and would suffice.

MINI VACATIONS

Since about the 12th of July we have been taking daily mini vacations south to see family and friends. There have been good things to do and also a funeral to attend but it has been good. We have logged over 2600 miles in travel but there were good things about the driving too.

I went to the all school reunion in my home town and found there is not enough time in a day to do all the things and see all the people you want to. It was great to see all of the people I did see but there were many others that I know were there that I didn't get a chance to talk to.

Oh well it has been 44 years since I graduated from High School and I haven't seen most of them in that time so maybe I'll see them next year. ;-)

I also figured out that you can never go home again. I already knew that but I re-learned it during the reunion.

this is what I look forward to about retirement - just being able to pick up and travel whenever you want! I'm glad you got to have lots of fun trips!

It really is true that you can never go home again. I think that when a person dies, their children want all of their stuff because it makes them feel they can go home again a little. But as I have acquired some of that stuff from my husband's family, I have come to realize that it doesn't really take you home again, it just adds to all the "stuff" that I already have. :) But if it is something special, it can recreate a memory.
