GONE AGAIN

I just got back from a fire about a hundred miles North of where we live. It was pretty small, only 886 acres but it was a good little fire to be on. They had trainees in every position on the fire so it was good to see the kids stepping up and taking on more responsibilities. There have been a lot of skills go out of the fire world the last three years. I was happy to get to go and really happy to see the young ones growing up.

Do you get to train any of them? I start to feel glum now and then that only the young are wise enough to teach the young.

Looney---I have had a lot to do with the training of all the ones that were in leadership positions on this fire. One of my friends from my college days was also there to help train up the kids---was a good week.
