Some say the world will end with fire.

Others say with ice.

From what I've tasted of desire

I hold with those that favor fire.

But if I had to perish twice,

I think I know enough of hate,

To say that for destruction ice,

Is also great and would suffice.

MORE PICS 9/25 TRIP

I couldn't resist putting some of the long distance shots on here. It is a little tough to appreciate the size of the view but this was a pretty day.

LEAFIN' THE FOREST 9/25

Today we had a great leaf drive...here are a few shots of the day. Don't wait too long - our Mountain is beginning to lose the leaves when the wind blows.

MORE TIME OUR 9/24 TRIP

I was WR_ _ _ on the time left to see the leaves. Inklings and I took a drive yesterday to see the leaves - they were pretty but they certainly weren't at the prime. It looked to me like we have at least one more week until they are at their best (SOME PLACES). We were a little surprised to see that the leaves here are ahead of most of the other places where we go to enjoy the fall colors.

Figure it out and take a leaf drive - YOU WON'T BE SORRY!!!!!

Random Pictures

This is me standing to the side of the Skalkaho Falls on the Pintlar District in Montana - when I was stationed there it was the Philipsburg District.

This is an awesome shot of some jets flying in a UNIQUE formation.

These are pictures of the new Bear Lake overlook at the top of Logan Canyon. I was involved with every step of this except the construction. This is the first time I have seen anything of it. Turned out nice as far as I can tell.

IT WON AGAIN!!!!

The Suburban in the picture had OLE YELLER's engine. It is kind of hard for me to believe that the engine in OLD YELLER has pulled off three wins in a row. Pretty Tough OLE Truck. I for one loved that truck - as evidenced by the 250,000 miles it had on it before I traded it to my daughter.

NEXT VISITOR WILL BE 5900

The next visitor to my blog will be number 5900 - that means that if each visitor spent one minute on the site then I have wasted over 98 hours of peoples time reading my blog. I know everyone doesn't spend that much time but if it wasn't for keeping in touch with family and friends this would be a huge time waster - but - in reality it is pretty fun to do it and to read others blogs.

INTO PERPETUITY

A few years ago I traded a truck with my daughter - it was OLD YELLER (wish I had a picture) - her husband used it for a paint truck for a few years until it just started falling apart. THEN -

They decided to run it in a demolition derby to put it out of its misery. It won and was still running pretty good. SO -

They decided to run it in another demolition derby. It won again but was seriously totalled out - seriously. AND-

Last night I got a text from my daughter saying they had put the engine and some other parts out of OLD YELLER into a Suburban they were running in the demolition derby last night.

Haven't heard yet whether it won or not but OLE YELLER was pretty unstoppable when I had it. My boys will remember a hunting trip with it tipped onto it's right side on the mountain held in place by a small tree. We struggled out through the window. We got out the handyman jack and a chain and jacked it back onto its wheels and went back to hunting.

CAN HARDLY WAIT TO HEAR HOW THE ENGINE PERFORMED LAST NIGHT.

GOOD DAYS; GOOD FRIENDS; LONG RIDES

'Twas a great day - 25 Riders - 15 miles - many, many saddle sores - both on horses and riders.

JUST ANOTHER DAY AT THE OFFICE

Maybe someday I will get good enough at this uploading stuff to do it right - I have the pictures loaded backwards. But this is a live catch that was collared last year on the District. I'm not goin' there after him.

LIFE AIN'T FAIR

My dear Mother suffered a heart attack last Thursday evening and another milder one Friday morning. We went over to see her Friday afternoon and she looked a lot better than she has looked for a while. We went back Saturday and she looked a little worse.

She was asleep when we got there Saturday so we just sat down to wait until she woke up. A nurse came in and woke her, cussed her, and put her oxygen back on. Apparently she has been taking it off regularly, and she will not wear it at home. I think that is her attempt to get out of this life without commiting suicide which she believes is simply self induced murder.

She is 92 years and 7 months old and does not want to be here. She told me to do something in my life that guaranteed that I wouldn't live as long as she has. I dearly love my Mother but if life were fair God would have taken her several years ago.

THIS SATURDAY SUCKS

About three weeks ago we broke three sprinkler heads on our yard. I have been going to fix them ever since but have been on fires and stuff until the stores were closed about every night.

This morning I got up and dug out the heads and took them off - then I took them to the store so I could get the exact same size and type---didn't work---they don't have the kind of heads I have and the ones they do have are shorter. So I had to raise the pipe in the yard just a little over a half inch so that the new head would clear the grass when it was watering the yard. OOOOHHHHH that was fun---but I am glad now that we have really good heads on the line - guess the next thing that will go out is the line itself. I kind of wish that would happen then I could revamp the yard a bunch. The way it is everything has to be done within the current sprinkler system or make a piece meal modification to it. We really don't know where all the lines go so piecemeal modifications will get us in trouble pretty quick. Guess I'll just live with it for a while.

GOING HOME

Go to Inklings blogspot and listen to this song on U Tube - these kids are great. I think my Mother would love to do this song. If I knew how to put it on my blog I would do it but Delirious did it for Inklings (insidestories.blogspot.com)

NOT JUST FIRES----

This tour to Louisiana to Cameron Parish after Hurricane Rita made for the worst Christmas in my life. We left Cameron Parish enroute home on the 20th of December if I remember right. I remember sitting on the couch after I got home and just crying because we had so much for Christmas and these folks had so little. Wanna talk about goin' home - they didn't have a home to go home to - and most of them still don't.

This photo is of the remains of hundreds of homes. I tried to upload a power point of the incident but don't have the skills to do that I guess.
